LAHAT SA CEBU MATATAGPUAN

Ang cebu ay kilala sa magandandang tanawin, mga festivals at mga masasarap na pagkain.

Mga halimbawa ng mga magagandang tanawin sa Cebu:

   DURANO ECO     FARM:

Ang Durano  Eco Farm is located at Corte,Carmen,Cebu.
Carmen’s Durano EcoFarm and Spring Resort is fast becoming the top choice for quick out of town dips among Cebuanos. Not only is the resort kid and family friendly, it is also packed with so much goodness mother nature has to offer.
Tucked neatly away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the eco-farm and resort is like no other. It is nestled in the mountains of Carmen. Its pools rest quietly beneath the lush greens of age-old trees. And the sound of raging rapids just a stone’s throw away from its pools satisfies not only the senses but also the weary soul.

BASILICA del STO. NINO:

Is located at CEbu. The convent of the Sto. Niño de Cebu was founded by Fr. Andres de Urdaneta on April 28, 1565 , the very day the Legazpi-Urdaneta expedition arrived in the island. On May 8 of the same year, when Legaspi and his men planned the urbanization of the city, they allotted a "place for the church and the convent of San Agustin, "where the Santo Niño image had been found."

In 1599, the convent was made a house of studies of grammar, headed by the Visayan linguist, Fr. Alonso de Mentrida. It also served as a rest house for missionaries working in the province and as a retirement home for the aged and the sick, usually attended to by a lay brother.

The church has always been the Sanctuary of the Sto. Niño, under the custody of the Augustinians. The number of priests assigned to the church varied from three to five aside from one or two lay brothers.

CEBUANO PEOPLE ARE KNOWN AS FESTIVE PEOPLE

 BUDBUD KABOG FESTIVAL:

NOT many Cebuanos know that budbud kabog originated in Catmon, northern Cebu, and
Budbod kabog that makers of budbud kabog in other places are relatives of Catmon natives.
Commonly referred to as “kabog” in the municipality is a small-seeded cereal plant known as millet in        other countries.
Millet grew wild and in abundance Catmon’s mountains, mostly in Barangay Agsuwao. Residents later cultivated the plant when they realized that its grains could be utilized for food.
Folklore has it that a farmer once discovered millet grass scattered on a cave floor in Barangay Agsuwao. The cave bats (kabog in the native tongue) had the millet as food. Thinking that the grass seeds could not be poison, he cooked them but found his ingenious recipe to be coarse and bland in taste. He then experimented by pounding the millet seeds before cooking, and added sugar, making it delightful to the tongue.
Years after, people started cooking the seeds with sugar and coconut milk, and wrapping it in banana leaves– which is now budbud kabog.
Residents say that the delicacy was first sold at a toll booth in Naghalin Bridge in Catmon, with cockfight aficionados as buyers.
Today, Catmonanons celebrate the Budbud Kabog Festival during the town fiesta every February 10.

SINULOG  FESTIVAL SA CARMEN:

This was one invitation I could not refuse. I had just finished my “Kabilin”  television episode on the Sto. Niño and Sinulog in Cebu City (aired on SugboTV Channel 14) when the request to judge the Sinulog sa Carmen came via a call from my friend Manny Gumban, the tourism officer there, and Deo Generalao, director of this annual event. Carmen Mayor Martin Gerard Villamor, I was told, was also
looking forward to meeting me to discuss the story behind the Sto. Niño there and was adamant that I should be there to witness the original Sinulog festival of Cebu.
Two things made me curious: the claim that the Sinulog there is much older than the one in Cebu City and the legend about the Sto. Niño of Luyang, an old settlement located next to the town center. The first one is quite easy to confirm and is within living memory, but the second one has been handed as folklore down the generations.

ANG MGA CEBUANO AY TALAGANG MASASARAP ANG MGA PRODUKTONG PAGKAIN

 TORTANG TALONG:

Tortang Talong (eggplant fritters or/ eggplant-omelette) is a very simple dish that does take a little bit of patience to prepare, but the result is very rewarding. You will find it at just about any restaurant in the Philippines and it is very popular at Turo-Turo eateries.

I remember when I was in high school Tortang Talong was one of my favorite foods, not only is it very tasty, but also very affordable. It’s just amazing that 16 years later here I am writing a blog about it.
